Unboxing is a dystopian anticipation video in which Lili, a young anonymous streamer, opens a series of packages on camera. These are sent to her from all over the world by various fictitious fans, whose presents she comments on. The packages that Lili unveils here, retrace one by one the era in which she evolves, whose gravity is read with lightness. Mate from Antarctica, oil on the rise, degradation of plastics, are all problematic themes for her time, all linked to questions of matter. The latter are installed in the exhibition space of the video in their raw, industrial form (polymer block, desert sand, powdered gelatin...). Lili speaks in a vernacular Swiss dialect, accessible only through subtitles, and mixed with synthetic, international voices. Shot behind closed doors, Unboxing sketches a landscape along objects that, like an object lesson, weave a discourse isolated from the World.
